Weekly Dividend Recap 10/2/20

9/28 – 10/2/20

This week I sat mostly on the sidelines, but I did nibble and dollar cost average in, but lightly. We do not know what is going to happen and I sound like a broken record saying that the market is overvalued. If there is one positive takeaway, we see the power and ingenuity of dollar cost averaging, as we do not know when the “right” time to buy back in is.

And with that, here is what I bought-

ExxonMobil (XOM) – Oil has been beaten down and tons of negative sentiment and headwinds facing this sector. I covered this on the podcast, that I believe the best thing for low prices are low prices. As demand slows down, so does production, which will allow the excess to burn off and supply comes back into balance. We could be nearing capitulation and the bottom nearing, which I believe is why the oil stocks that are not just “drill & sell”, and are well diversified, are the best long term value plays right now.

PepsiCo (PEP) – Every week I buy at least a share of Pepsi until I’ll have 100. I like them much better than Coca-Cola (KO), as they are diversified throughout beverage and drink.

Federal Realty Trust (FRT) – I continue to add REITs into the IRA as the dividends are not qualified and taxed as ordinary income. The benefit of not paying increased taxes over many years will be sufficient, to say the least. They have also increased the dividend for the last 24 years to boot!

Chevron (CVX) – Much of the same sentiment as ExxonMobil (XOM), except they have a better balance sheet, which I believe is reflected in the superior share price, comparatively. Multi faceted and fully integrated, I’ll continue to hold for years to come.

And as always, listen to the podcast every Tuesday and Friday. Thanks!
